Corey Brenner
Since joining the Pend Oreille Conservation District in Spring 2022, I’ve had the opportunity to combine my passion for environmental stewardship with hands-on conservation work. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Evergreen State College, Environmental Professional Certification from PSU, and I’m a trained as an NRCS Conservation Planner. Before joining the Conservation District, I worked as a field ecologist and botanist with the Washington State Department of Transportation, where I helped with wetland and riparian habitat conservation across the state. This experience gave me a deep appreciation for the importance of preserving natural spaces, especially in areas affected by human activity. In my current role, I manage the Riparian Program in Pend Oreille County. My goal is to support local landowners and the community in protecting and restoring riparian habitats. I work with local agencies like the NRCS, WDFW, WDNR, RCO, as well as tribal partners such as the Kalispel, Spokane, and Coeur d'Alene Tribes. I oversee a variety of projects, from bank stabilization and fish passage to riparian restoration and managing our Native Plant Stock in collaboration with the Kalispel Tribe’s Indian Creek Community Forest. When I’m not working, you’ll often find me outdoors—hiking, kayaking, or exploring the forests around me. The natural world is a constant source of inspiration in my conservation efforts.
